Rumor said that this movie will beat LoTR, which i will have to reply, not yet:). Based on the novel "Dark Knight Material" (or something similar with that).

The tagline is: "It is the Alethiometer. It tells the truth. As for how to read it, you'll have to learn by yourself."

One girl, lyra Belacqua has to go in a journey to save her father (or whom she knows as uncle) Loard Asriel, while her mother is in the opposite side Mrs. Coultier. Lyra is the only one who can operate the alethiometer or golden compass, the things to tell you every truth you seek. Accompanied by Pan / pantalaemon, her daemon, the gypsy friends, Lorek Byrnison the bear and Lee Scoresby.

This is the first part of a trilogy.

This movie is definitifely has to be watched in a cinema, instead of 18" laptop screen. My favourite is the daemons. how the director describes them, started from Pan - the keep changing - mongoose, golden monkey of Mrs Coultier, steelmaria, the white leopard of Lord Asriel, the hawk of Ma Hawkins, the beagle of Roger, the beat dongs of the guards, the cricket of the cunning ministers.. so creative.
